New tail-lights resulting in longer service life and faster workshop operations
The red tail-lights – which were part of the IC4 train’s original design – gave DSB problems for a long time. The lights had to be replaced so often that the MDBF on these trains became far too high.
We examined the defective lights at RL Components and discovered they had no transient protection of any kind. As a consequence, it was necessary to replace the light type.
In partnership with DSB we designed and built a completely new tail-light for the IC4 train. In addition to transient protection, we equipped it with LEDs using the latest generation of LED chips. These ensure a longer service life as well as a better light output.
Furthermore, we changed the length of the cable and designed an alternative light front, making it easier for the workshop to install and replace it.
